As 2024 comes to a close, let me list off a few of my favourite things.
I wasn’t going to do a yearly favourites post this year because I didn’t leave myself enough time for it. But I decided to push through last minute and here we are.
♥ Baking
After buying an oven, I found myself baking/cooking/roasting/toasting/grilling whatever I wanted to eat. I truly enjoyed baking and cooking things this year, so much so that anytime I ate something at a cafe or restaurant, my brain would immediately go, “Hmm, I can make that better at home.”. I truly became one of those people.
I also enjoyed making compotes out of any and every fruit I’d get my hands on. My blueberry compote is pretty amazing, I’m allowing myself to gloat a little.
♥ Sunnies Face
Sunnies Face blew me away when I tried out their products in the summer of 2024. Every product I tried, I liked. I wanted to be more critical of the brand but everything was just made so well that I couldn’t be my usual skeptical self.
I have an overview of all the products I tried from the brand here.
♥ Charli XCX
All I’m going to say is it’s great to see Charli finally rise to the ranks of a main pop girly. She’s been a mainstay on my playlists for years and I love how Brat exploded the moment it came out.
♥ Urban Decay All Nighter Vitamin C Setting Spray
This setting spray finally made me believe in setting sprays. Whatever I put on my face, if I were to end my routine with a spritz of this, I knew I’d be coming home looking exactly the same. It’s magical. This is perfection, come rain, come shine.
♥ Prada Paradoxe & Gucci Bloom
I didn’t get too into niche fragrances this year. Instead, I went the complete opposite. For the most part, I found myself appreciating affordable perfumes from the likes of Westside and M&S.
Shoutout to ‘Nectar & Passionfruit’ from M&S and ‘Cancer’ from Westside’s Zodiac collection.
That being said, when I wanted to pack a punch, my go-to was Prada Paradoxe, in its Intense version. I also am still partial to anything Gucci Bloom adjacent. This flanker made me reignite my love for this line of scents.
♥ Chappell Roan
I was smitten with Chappell Roan, much like the rest of the world, throughout 2024. I watched her Tiny Desk Concert one night and then flew off to Spotify to add her songs to my playlist. What a performer.
♥ Glossier Cloud Paint in ‘Haze’
Oh, boy. Here we go again. I don’t know how many times this blush has been featured in my yearly favourites list. It truly is that good. Despite being a blush fiend, I still don’t know how no other blush has even come close to dethroning this.
♥ Flower Knows
After years of watching other people guffaw at Flower Knows products, I decided it was my turn. I cannot even begin to tell how how much prettier their products are in person. It’s ridiculous.
I have a couple of reviews of their products on the blog already (here and here) and I cannot wait to post more about them!
♥ STRAWBABIES!!! 🍓🍓🍓
One day, in February, I picked up a box of strawberries from a local fruit vendor. The way my obsession grew after that moment was… Uh. Ridiculous. I’d put them in cakes, I’d make milkshakes, I’d make strawberry matcha lattes, I’d make compotes, I’d eat them with whipped cream, I’d make fruit sandos, I’d make strawberry-infused water… I have a problem. It’s strawberry season right now and I fully intend to gobble my weight in strawbabies till they disappear from shops.
♥ aespa
What a stellar year the girls have had! I didn’t check out a lot of K-Pop this year but Aespa remained on my playlist all throughout!
♥ KATSEYE
Speaking of K-Pop, I realise one can’t slot KATSEYE under it. But these girls are incredible. My favourite debut this year, by far. SO, SO, SO GOOD.
♥ Uniqlo t-shirts
All I wore this year, whether I was home, in meetings or out with my friends, were Uniqlo t-shirts. My mother gave up on trying to get me to wear other things. These became like second skin to me. Hot but obvious tip, buy them on sale to save some money.
♥ QTCinderella
I watched a handful of streamers on a regular basis this year. I’d put them in my background while I worked and my favourite happens to be Miss QTCinderella. I watch almost all her videos on YouTube and I especially love her baking/cooking streams on Twitch.
♥ ‘Eternal Sunshine’ by Ariana Grande
Miss Grande was my top artist, as per my Spotify Wrapped. I played this album on repeat. In my kitchen, while working, while unwinding, in the car, everywhere. I really wanted to catch her in ‘Wicked’ (especially after that highly amusing press tour) but couldn’t. I’m still bummed out about that. I suppose that’s why I still blast ‘Eternal Sunshine’ at full volume. It makes up for missing out on the movie. In my head.
♥ SKIN 1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil
I love how lightweight this cleansing oil is. It melts down all the grime, sunscreen and makeup you might have on your face with ease. It didn’t break me out and was a new addition to my roster of tried-and-true skincare faves.
♥ rom&nd
I also tried and enjoyed a lot of Rom&nd products this year. Only the blush review went live this year but I intend to talk about more of their products next year. It’s a brand with not too many misses, I feel. They’re good quality and the colours they offer are pretty and unique.
♥ Popmart Blind Boxes
Years ago, I watched as Yos from Max & Yos on YouTube unboxed his little Dimoo figurines. But watching QuarterJade rip open these blind boxes stream after stream, I decided to get a couple for myself and try my luck at them. They’re cute, absolutely, and can be highly addictive. I hope to reel myself in if things feel like they’re getting out of hand. Skull Pandas are my favourites and I’m elated to have the ones I unboxed.
Whew.
That’s it. I did it. I did it in 3 hours. Wow. Allow me to pat myself on the back.
I feel like I’m missing a bunch of things from this list but I did what I could within the time I allotted myself.
What were your favourites in 2024?
I’ll see you all soon. I’ll see you all next year, hehe.
