I can’t help but compose this post. I’ve been thinking about it for ages. For my beloved f(x)’s 7th Anniversary, here’s a list of my favourite songs by them. Let me just preface this list by saying that f(x) is the most unique and eclectic K-Pop group that you’ll ever come across.
I’ll be honest, it’s difficult to just water the list down to 10 picks.
Before we begin, here are a couple of Anniversary posts from Amber.
Let’s start with our list now!
10. Airplane
My first pick, Airplane, is from their ‘Pink Tape’ album. I fell in love with the song at first listen and I’m hoping you will too. (I feel like I’ll be saying that about all the songs!)
9. All Night

The second song I’ve picked is All Night from their ‘Red Light’ album. The lyrics are out to get my heart:
“The hidden blue in your twinkling eyes
Mellow and warm yellow, it’s you
You dye the orange sunset purple
I want to be alone with you at the dark night”
*sighs*
8. Butterfly
You would never expect such a kooky song to be about a white butterfly. Then again, f(x) brings us all kinds of kooky in the ‘Red Light’ album.
7. Sweet Witches
“This is an extremely secret recipe,
A Medicine specially made for you,
Softer than a lemon,
Fresher than an orange, Fresh
Mixed into the medicine are tears and long sighs,
As well as eternal happiness,
And this much gathered winks”
This upbeat and playful song is from their 2011 album, ‘Pinocchio’. This is one of the very first f(x) songs I listened to.
6. Step
This song from their ‘Pink Tape’ album is basically about how wearing sneakers is much better than wearing high heels. Since I completely agree with the sentiment, I love listening to this fast track in the mornings.
5. Nu ABO
This is the very first f(x) song I listened to and it is what got me interested in the girls and their music. This song was released in their 2010 album, ‘Nu ABO’. The same album contains the song ME+U, which subsequently became our fandom name. Fellow MeUs, this is where it all began. Anyway, Nu ABO is about how A, B and O are blood groups and how f(x) is going to bring a whole new wave of music into the music industry. Weird, I know. But it’s so quintessentially f(x).
4. 4 Walls
This song (and the album) came at such a crucial time for us and the girls. ‘4 Walls’ is the first album after Sulli’s departure and I was worried about how f(x) would continue as a 4-membered group. When this music video was released, I remember how elated and proud I was. Not even elated. Just contented.
3. Rude Love
This is my favourite song from the ‘4 Walls’ album. It’s fast, it’s positive, it’s beautiful.
2. Milk
This song has a very distinctive “Bollywood sound”, which surprised me when I first listened to it. After watching some live performances of the song, the song grew on me. So much so that it’s #2 on my list.
1. Shadow
Here we are. My favourite f(x) song of all time. This song has been my ringtone since 2013. I’ve changed phones but I am yet to change my ringtone. ‘Pink Tape’ is full of gems but this is the prettiest and most captivating one among them. The Korean name of the song is “미행” which translates into “stalking”. This eerie song is about a shadow falling in love with its owner. Again, so quintessentially f(x).
So, yes, Happy 7th Anniversary to the Queens of Cool, f(x). Let us celebrate their music and spread their uniqueness, fellow MeUs.
What is your favourite f(x) song?
Until next time,
take care.
A hardcore MeU. ♥
