Review: Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers.

apocalips1

Hi, everyone. By now, you’ve probably heard a lot about the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers. One thing that I’ve learnt through owning these is that you simply cannot own just one. You add one, then another and again, another one and so on. You may just not be able yourself from buying each and every shade in the collection.

The applicator has a little well in it. You won't have to dip more than twice for an opaque coverage.

THE BACKSTORY: I feel like I need to give an honorary mention to my old pal, ‘Big Bang’, here. It’s the star of the entire range, in my opinion. It was the first of the Apocalips I purchased and it is because of this shade that I continued to build up my collection. I seem to have lost it now, so, I wrote a pretty decent post on it earlier this year here. If you do decide to give this range a go, definitely check ‘Big Bang’ out. Layer it over your favourite red lipstick and watch your lips come alive. So much fuss over a liquid lipstick.

THE PRODUCT: Honestly, there’s nothing unlikeable about this product. You get what you see, really. These are intensely pigmented and smooth and easy to work with. The initial finish borders on lacquer-y but it soon dries off to a nice matte finish. They are not patchy and not drying whatsoever. They last for a good amount of time, even after eating/drinking. Of course, this may only be more potent for the darker colours as they are more pigmented. Touching up just a bit never harmed anyone, did it? Then again, these do not need major touching up. These do have a slightly medicinal fragrance to them. However, it disappears after a few minutes. So, you get an impressive formula, great futuristic looking packaging and lasting power in one little product. It’s no wonder that these are so incredibly popular.

SHADES: Five of the shades swatched are –

  1. Nova – It’s a loud, bright, blue-toned pink. It’s actually even brighter in person.
  2. Solstice – It’s a mauve-y pink. The brown undertones in it make it more everyday than explicit.
  3. Galaxy – It’s a plum shade that looks a lot darker in the tube. For a full tinge of the purple undertones, layer it over a lip concealer.
  4. Luna – This is an orange-y peach and is a very bright and bold shade.
  5. Apocaliptic – It’s a fuchsia with a hint of purple/blue undertones. It’s a gorgeous shade and looks amazing layered over other pink lipsticks.
