Since today’s Sunday, I decided to unwind by writing about some products from Sunnies Face. It’s a Filipino brand that launched around 2018 and I remember how much buzz they were creating despite being newbies in the industry.
THE BACKSTORY: I remember, back when I had my @midori_kitty Instagram handle, I used to sift through posts upon posts of bloggers reviewing Sunnies Face products. I also liked the brand’s aesthetic and found it similar to one of my other faves, 3CE. Since I had always wanted to try products from Sunnies Face, I was glad to see that they began retailing in my country. I grabbed a few things to try out and promptly fell in love.
Sunnies Face Airblush in ‘Doll’
If a brand has a blush to offer, you know I will try it out.
Right off the bat, I love the soft-matte compact. It matches the colour of the blush housed inside and even has a mirror.
The cream-to-powder formula and the bouncy, putty texture of the blush are super fun. While you can use a dense brush with it, I simply use my fingers. A small swipe across the pan and then diffusing the product on the cheek injects your face with a flush of colour.
It can look translucent if you do a small amount but the blush itself is quite pigmented and its intensity can be built up in layers. It’s weightless and has a blurry, satin-smooth finish.
It’s also seriously long-wearing. It survives even the humid weather and my ginormous sweat glands.
It looks great on the lids too.
- Doll – a warm petal pink that just freshens up your entire look.
QUANTITY: 2.5 grams
PRICE: $18 USD (retails for 1350 INR here)
Sunnies Face Eyecrayon in ‘Bambi’
The Eyecrayon’s component also matches the product inside while the lid is the brand’s familiar ivory-cream colour. It’s retractable, which I always appreciate.
It’s extremely creamy and glides on the lids easily. You can blend it out for a more diffused look or leave it as is for a more graphic outcome.
I tend to dab some on the lid and blend it out just to give myself a wash of colour. You can also build it up in layers and it performs just as well. It takes some time to set but is smudge-proof afterwards.
I don’t have anything else to note. It’s good. Also great for smokey eyes, provided you get deeper shades.
- Bambi – a warm milk chocolate brown.
QUANTITY: 0.8 grams
PRICE: $16 USD (retails for 1350 INR here)
Sunnies Face Fluffbalm in ‘Perfect Nude’
Now, these are housed in the standard cream coloured lipstick components. I like the embossed logo on top as well as the wavy lid. The problem is that if you have multiples of the same range, it’s difficult to tell them apart.
This balm-lipstick hybrid has a silicone-smooth matte texture. It glides on the lips easily and has a blurry finish.
It’s not opaque in one swipe but can be built up. It doesn’t really get too overwhelming, though. It remains sheer, somehow.
The balmy silicone texture feels lightweight on the lips and is fairly long-wearing. It’s definitely more long-wearing than your average lip balm. The texture also doesn’t amplify lip-lines and is just something you can mindlessly apply while you’re out and about.
- Perfect Nude – a warm chestnut brown.
QUANTITY: 3.2 grams
PRICE: $16 USD (retails for 1350 INR here)
Sunnies Face Lip Treat in ‘Jellyfish’
This also comes housed in the standard cream coloured component. Like the previous product, if you have multiples of this, it’s difficult to tell them apart.
This is just your regular lip balm formula. It comes in some wearable and lovely shades; I shared some with two of my best friends. I got to keep the clear one, named ‘Jellyfish’.
The texture is wonderful. It’s immediately hydrating and is also nourishing.
I love how buttery soft it is and how easily it melts onto the lips.
- Jellyfish – clear.
QUANTITY: 2.8 grams
PRICE: $16 USD (retails for 1350 INR here)
