It’s good to be back here, on the blog. I was knee deep in my Semester Finals and I’m just grateful to have survived it somehow. I’m back — and it feels great to be back!
THE BACKSTORY: I already gave a brief history of my desire to try 3CE products in the last post. You could read it, if you’d like. To keep things short, let’s just say I’ve always been wanting to try 3CE lip products ever since they upgraded to the colour-coded packaging instead of the boring, old black cases.
INGREDIENTS: Silica, Isononyl Isononanoate, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Microcrystalline Wax, Diisostearyl Malate, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Alumina, Propylene Glycol Dibenzoate, Triethylhexanoin, Paraffin, Diglyceryl Sebacate/Isopalmitate, Octyldodecanol, Dicalcium Phosphate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Sorbitan Isostearate, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Diamond powder, Amethyst Powder, Pearl Powder, Polyethylene, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, Cera Microcristallina (EU), Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylyl Glycol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Water, Butylene Glycol, Tourmaline, Methylparaben, Red 7 (CI 15850:1), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77499)
THE PRODUCT: If you’re someone who skims through reviews – I don’t mind, I do that too – when you’re unsure of whether or not you should make the purchase, I’ll make things easier for you. I’ll just go ahead and say this – go for it. It’s worth the splurge.
Like I mentioned before, I dig the colour-coded packaging. That makes it easier to spot if you have more than one of these and it’s just prettier. The cap has a magnetic closure. I’m usually not too fond of those but this one’s actually done well. Make sure the 3CE logo is above the Stylenanda bit. That secures it in place.
As far as the formula goes, it’s quite nice. It’s creamy during application but soon settles into a drier, matte finish. Even people who don’t particularly like matte lipsticks will fare just fine with this. It’s not too drying and it glides on the lips.
Make sure your lips are nourished before putting it on. It tends to crumble if you use it on flaky lips. It also tends to bunch up. Prep is important for any matte lip-product.
It’s also very pigmented and opaque. You can dab it on if you prefer a sheer wash of colour.
It has decent longevity. It’s matte so it naturally will outlast your average lipstick. If you eat, it won’t last. You’ll need to touch up.
SWATCHES AND SHADES AVAILABLE: Do you see the opacity? That’s just one swipe. One thing I love about 3CE’s Point Makeup is how unique their shade selection tends to be. These kinds of colours aren’t easily found or duped.
‘#222 Step And Go’ — A gorgeous terracotta-red shade. You can see the brown, the burnt orange, the red… All rolled into one lipstick bullet!
PRICE AND QUANTITY: 20 USD for 3.5 grams of product.
AVAILABILITY: Stylenanda, Style Korean, Cult Beauty etc.
♥ OVERALL: If unique colours, colour-coded packaging, matte formulas are your calling, you need to answer.
