Hi, I’m finally back. I’m back to talk about a local brand that caught my eye earlier this year, Asa Beauty.
THE BACKSTORY: So, I suppose it wouldn’t be far-fetched of me to say that Asa Beauty is our country’s answer to a luxury makeup brand. What stood out to me was that the makers had a particular vision – to give their consumers products that were not only wonderfully formulated but also made to look like they were high-end or luxury items. In all honesty, the packaging of this brand greatly reminds me of my beloved high-end Japanese brands like RMK, Shiseido and the like.
THE PRODUCT: One of the greatest gimmicks that this brand employs is that they offer their products in refills. Now, whether or not you buy the full component and pay the full price is completely up to you. Of course, by buying the components/compacts that the products come housed in, you are more in line to get the full experience. If you simply wish to try out the product and the formula, you can opt for simply the refill and not bother paying more for parts of the packaging. The refill system allows more leeway if you were to find a product you fall in love with; instead of buying the full product over and over again, you can, instead, simply purchase the refill to place into the component.
Now, the component of this blush stick looks rather unique. To me, the component looks like it’s ceramic, when, in fact, it is metal. It is retractable and has a magnetic closure. Once you put the refill inside the component’s packaging, it’s clicks in tight.
The formula of this Lip&Cheek tint is lovely. It’s smooth and easy to blend. It’s quite pigmented so using your ring finger to get some product on and blend onto the cheeks is the best way to get a soft, ethereal look. You can also use a synthetic brush. Since it is rather opaque, you may need a few taps to make sure the product looks seamless on the cheeks.
Since it is a cream formulation, it dries down to a somewhat dewy, satin finish.
It’s not an overly sticky cream blush, which is something I always appreciate. It’s also quite long-lasting. A little bit of translucent powder will ensure it lasts even longer, especially in the sweltering summers.
Since this marketed as a multipurpose stick, I did try it out on the lips as well. The results were a tad bit underwhelming. It’s not as vibrant nor comfortable on the lips. It can, however, be used as a one-and-done eyeshadow colour.
SWATCHES AND SHADES AVAILABLE: At the moment, Asa offers 3 different shades in this formula.
- 01 Misty Lilac
- 05 Luscious Apricot
- 09 Juicy Peach – a deep, earthy peach.
PRICE: 2100 INR (with case) or 1550 INR (only refill, no case)
QUANTITY: 5 grams of product.
AVAILABILITY: Asa Beauty, Nykaa etc.
♥ OVERALL: I do like it as a blush and I enjoyed the overall concept and experience. The price stings but I’m happy to be supporting a home-grown brand. However, if you’re simply on the look for a decent cream blush that does its job and is not heavy on the pocket, you might want to skip this one. There are better and more affordable options out there.
NOTE: How have you all been doing? Do you notice the watermarks on the photos for this post? I was made aware of countless instances where people have stolen photos from this blog without giving me any credit. I feel like a post on that will be coming soon. Also, hopefully, I won’t take a month-long hiatus before my next post. Jesus. I need to get it together.
