Review: Clinique Cheek Pop in ‘Pansy Pop’.

Clinique Pansy Pop

Whoo, let’s talk about one of my most recent blush acquisitions today.

THE BACKSTORY: After hearing a lot of “horror stories” about Clinique’s skincare line from my sisters, I was always cautious with how I approached the brand. For several years, I chose not to check out their products at all. But I recently decided to give them a chance, starting with their blush line. Through my Instagram friends, I came to know that their makeup items performed rather well. So, yes, let’s get on with it!

THE PRODUCT: Let me get the obvious out of the way – the embossed gerber daisy motif won’t disappear after you dip your brush in. It lasts for a long time, from what I’ve heard, so have at it. While the details on mine are starting to rub off, the daisy motif is still there and I don’t see it disappearing anytime soon.

Now, the Clinique Cheek Pop blush range boasts a wide variety of shades to choose from. From what I gather, most of the blushes in the range are extremely pigmented and require a light hand.

However, Pansy Pop distinguishes itself from the others right from the first swatch – the blush is very sheer. Depending on your preferences, that may be a good or bad thing. Personally, I love sheer blushes because they give me more freedom to play around with the product.

Despite being sheer, the blush can be built up to your liking, without appearing blotchy or powdery. It is silky and doesn’t cling to dry patches.

It’s a satin finish, I find. It imparts a gorgeous sheen to the face when you dust it on, quite unlike other blushes in my little collection. Despite it being the stark lavender shade you see in the pan, it becomes a healthy-looking pinkish violet on the cheeks.

The plastic packaging is quite sturdy and it’s a lot heavier that one would assume.

It is also fragrance-free, allergy and ophthalmologist-tested.

Do you see the sheen?

Sometimes, I layer this over my Missha cushion blush. The cushion blush is very dewy and adding this on top not only sets it but it also adds some more dewiness.

SHADES AVAILABLE: As of now, the Clinique Cheek Pops are available in 12 different shades; from corals, pinks to nudes and violets.

QUANTITY AND PRICE: 2100 INR for 3.5 grams of product ($22).

AVAILABILITY: Clinique counters, Clinique, Sephora, Nordstrom etc

Overall, I’ve been really enjoying this blush lately. I would definitely check out a few of the other shades and see how I like them. I’m also looking forward to checking out more makeup products from Clinique.
