Review: Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes Spring 2015 in “Cherry Blossom”.

Hahaha, I know, I know. It’s a little too late to be talking about a 2015 Spring product when the Spring 2016 collections are being launched right, left and center. It’s dead winter here but what brightens up my Instagram feed are the glorious Spring collections that makeup companies are whipping out. As I see the girls I follow enjoy these collections, I can’t help but feel excited too. Anyway, this palette is something I snapped up during Black Friday sales for a really minimal price. Hence, the review. Plus, it’s got my favourite makeup colours – pinks – so I’m not complaining, really.

*There was a 6.8 magnitude earthquake where I live earlier today. I’m typing this on 4/1/2016 at 9 PM and the earthquake happened at 4:30 AM. It was a long and consistent tremor and I hope everyone’s safe and sound. My prayers are always with you. xxx

THE BACKSTORY: I already wrote so much in the opening paragraph that I don’t think a backstory is needed. There was a huge sale and I just grabbed this palette – it contains pinks (my favourite shade for anything beauty related!) and browns.

THE PRODUCT: First off, I never expected the palette to be so tiny. It’s smaller than my palm or my phone. Secondly, one of the eyeshadows, as you’ll see in photos below, was completely destroyed by the time it reached me. I managed to salvage it and it’s still holding itself into one piece. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, shall we?

The pigmentation, of course, is beautiful on all the shades. They swatch and apply beautifully. With primer or a base underneath, they’re even more amazing. They’re long-lasting with a base underneath. Alone, they fade a little but they don’t absolutely wear off into oblivion. The eyeshadows seem very delicate to me and if you’re not careful, you might just say goodbye to it.

The packaging, of course, is adorable. It’s a tiny little plastic palette with a huge mirror. However, I wouldn’t really take it travelling with me, despite its compact size and perfect colour selection. The eyeshadows will just blow up in your suitcase. I’m sure you don’t want that.

I feel like I could easily win the fluffy fingers award. -.-‘

From Bottom to Top: Cherry Coke, Cherry March, Baby Peony, Hello Spring, Floral Walk, Warm Morning.

SHADES AND SWATCHES: There are six eyeshadows in the palette. From pinks to browns.

  • Cherry Coke: A deep, rich brown with a tiny bit of red peeking through. It has red shimmers through it.
  • Cherry March: A cool, matte and bright pink that I absolutely love.
  • Baby Peony: A light baby pink with bluish white hues peeking through. It’s matte and is extremely pretty.
  • Hello Spring: This is the shade that arrived broken in its pan. Funny thing is, the texture of this particular shade is more creamy than flat-out powdery. It’s an interesting little gem – plus, it’s stunning with all its glorious iridescent pink glitter, almost acting as if it were a nuance shade.
  • Floral Walk: A metallic brownish bronze shade; it’s pretty but it’s nothing you’ve never seen before.
  • Warm Morning: A metallic and warm brownish copper shade.

DUPE: I’m constantly on the hunt for something cheaper to trump over MAC’s Sushi Flower eyeshadow (it’s my favourite). Cherry March is a close dupe for Sushi Flower. While it does swatch a lot better (and has a lot more fall-out) than Sushi Flower, you can see that it does appear brighter and cooler than Sushi Flower does. However, on the lids, the difference is indistinguishable. I’ve been constantly using Cherry March these past couple of weeks and I honestly can’t see much of a difference. We’ve got a winner here, you guys. It’s too bad that this shade/palette is limited edition.

PRICE: It was $16.80 originally but I got it for $6. You get 0.7 grams of product in each eyeshadow pan.

AVAILABILITY: It was a limited edition product, you guys. It’s still available here, though.
