Ugh, this blush is just heavenly.
THE BACKSTORY: I think I had an entire soliloquy dedicated to Flower Knows when I wrote my review on one of my first purchases from the brand. I talked about Baozi and Hana, their YouTube days, them being a gay couple and having an incredibly successful brand… All that. Feel free to read about it, in the highlighted hyperlink above. It contains more details about why I’m always happy to support this brand.
THE PRODUCT: Again, as usual, it’s the packaging that entices you and reels you in with this brand. This was a part of their ‘Little Angel’ collection, which featured cherubs and other angel-related motifs on their packaging and products. The cream blush line has designs of these angelic beings playing in front of a centerpiece meant to look like stained glass windows. The details are incredible and I stop and stare at all the little features every time I decide to use it.
Now, the compact itself is quite hefty and lodges a mirror inside. It also has a magnetic closure, which I’m not too big on.
When you open the lid of the compact, you reveal the most gorgeous cherub embossed on the blush itself. I felt like I had committed a crime when I first swiped my finger across the product to get a swatch. Disrupting the embossing felt weirdly incriminating. Like I was doing something I wasn’t supposed to.
The cream blush, the actual product, is actually rather decent once you get past all the bells and whistles that escort it. It’s got good colour payoff and is incredibly soft to the touch. The opacity can be built up easily in layers and it doesn’t pack that immediate punch that a lot of cream blushes tend to do. It’s something you can build up as per your liking and it isn’t something that gives you clown cheeks from the get go. It blends out easily and is just a solid, noob-proof formula.
Like a lot of cream blushes, it won’t wear very well during summers. Or during any other season besides Winter, honestly. It’s best to set it with a powder blush in a similar shade or a translucent face powder. I tend to apply the Flower Knows powder blush over it, to set it, and then spritz some good ol’ Urban Decay setting spray to lock everything in place. That combo works incredibly well for me.
As good as the Flower Knows formulas can be, I wish they did a larger variation of shades in their collections. That being said, they’re a smaller company and are putting out incredibly well-thought-out collections time after time. So I won’t whine about it too much.
