Review-ish: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar RTW in ‘Anime’.

OCC Lip Tar RTW Anime

I bet you can guess why I bought this liquid lipstick. It’s the name, you guys. The name pierced my heart again. Also, the colour of the product was pink. Pink is my favourite shade when it comes to makeup. I honestly thought nothing would go wrong with this but…

It doesn’t suit me! AT ALL.

Off it went to the girlfriend’s lipstick collection.

*sighs*

So, yeah, since I have only tried it a couple of times or so, I cannot really give it a full review.

What’s in a name? Well, the name makes me click the ‘BUY NOW’ button.

THE PRODUCT: So, the Lip Tar RTW is a more user-friendly version, especially when you compare it to their older packaging. The older packaging would be a makeup artist’s dream-come-true but for the regular girl on the run, it was a pain-in-the-neck. This version comes with the same formula and a doe-foot applicator, making application much easier.

While the liquid lipstick is quite pigmented and opaque, I do think it’s a little uneven. I had similar problems with Black Dahlia, another Lip Tar I own.

All the Lip Tars I’ve tried have had a minty scent (courtesy of the Peppermint Oil they are formulated with) which lingers for a while even after application. This RTW version is no exception.

They are labelled as crème-mattes and I’d have to agree. Anime does have a very velvety matte finish, which is a lot more comfortable on the lips as opposed to a true matte. They are formulated with Hemp Oil and Vitamin E to provide the lips with hydration.

One thing that bothers me about this product is how it tends to gather at the centre of the lips into a crusty mess. I really dislike it when products do that.

Anime is described as a “seriously neon pink”. I think its brightness differs from person to person. On me, it appears to be more of a bright warm pink than anything else. However, on the girlfriend, it looks true-to-colour and retains its bluish undertones. Strange, huh?

On me, it doesn’t last very long. Most of it comes off after I have meal or even a snack, leaving only the stain behind. Again, on the girlfriend, it lasts a whole lot longer… It even survives lunch-break. Weird, huh?

I said I wouldn’t do a full review and here I am, doing exactly that. I really need a Kit Kat right now.

GIRLFRIEND’S TWO CENTS: A brand new section, made especially for this post since she technically owns the Lip Tar now. She mentioned liking its longevity, how pigmented it was and the minty scent. “But it leaks,” she informed me. It’s true. She carried it with her to college for touch-ups and it leaked. She ends her mini review with – “Y U do dis, OCC?”. She’s now on the lookout for a small packet to carry it around in.

Overall, I still think Lip Tars are decent-enough purchases. You’ll definitely find something to suit your taste from their extensive range of colours. Why have I been so unimpressed by products lately? Let’s hope the next product I review will get a 10/10 from me.
