Hi, there. If you’re someone who has never used an eyeshadow base or primer before, you’ve come to the right place. This little baby will change the way you look at eyeshadows and eye make-up, in general.
THE BACKSTORY: I’ve got discolouration on my eyelids. They’re noticeably darker than the rest of my face. Soon, I stumbled upon these Paint Pots. I found that this particular shade would easily help me combat my discolouration as well as act as an eye base. When I used it, I didn’t realize it would change how I look at eye makeup itself.
THE PRODUCT: This is the description of the Paint Pots on the official MAC website: “A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with MAC shadows and liners.”

What you can necessarily do with this is use it alone on your eyelids or use it as a base or primer for your eye make-up. Doing so will allow your eyeshadows to appear truer to their colour and more vibrant and last longer without creasing. If you’ve got discoloured eyelids, you can use this as a base and just do a light wash of shadow over your lids. You may use your fingers for application or use an eye make-up brush with synthetic bristles. It’s highly blend-able and this particular shade works well with any eyeshadow colour you can imagine. ‘Soft Ochre’ is a yellow beige shade, which is exactly why it works for basic as well as darker, more put-together looks.
The product comes in a very sturdy glass container with a black top. There are 23 shades in the range, starting from very basic shades like ‘Soft Ochre’ and ‘Painterly’ (nude beige) to bright ones like ‘Clearwater’ (sea foam) and dark ones like ‘Blackground’ (black-gray with multi colour). Be sure to close the caps of the Paint Pots tight or they might dry up quicker than usual.
With this in your hands, you’ll no longer have to worry about your eyeshadow creasing or smudging. They may be expensive but giving these a try might just change the way you look at eye make-up. I can honestly say that it was a good investment.
PRICE: 1450 INR ($21 approximately) for 5 grams.

DUPE: The formula is quite similar to the Maybelline Color Tattoos (which are 350 INR for 4 grams) and they pretty much serve the same purpose. You may use the Color Tattoos alone or layer other eyeshadows over them. However, since most of the Color Tattoos have a metallic finish, with the exception of one, they may be a little difficult to use for basic looks. Unless, of course, you have no issues with the metallic finish.
