Hi, everyone. This is a new launch from Maybelline; currently an Amazon Exclusive, I believe. Here are the two beauties I picked!
THE BACKSTORY: Everybody is doing liquid lipsticks right now. And everybody and their mothers are wearing them. The thing is, with the driest lips on the face of the planet, I find liquid lipsticks extremely uncomfortable to wear. These, however, are a different story.
THE PRODUCT: These liquid lipsticks are marketed as “Velvet Mattes” with good reason. They aren’t the kind of liquid lipsticks that dry completely matte and last throughout the day. Instead, these guys apply smoothly and dry to become a satin, velvety finish. They aren’t matte in the least, which is perhaps why they don’t last as long as a proper matte liquid lipstick. But that’s just me nitpicking. These liquid lipsticks are super comfortable on the lips and are a great option for those with dry, flaky lips. They last for 4+ hours, provided you don’t eat or drink. However, they are easy to touch up, compared to matte liquid lipsticks. These do not crack and flake off and are not sticky. If you’re into buttery, hydrating formulas, then, by all means, go for it. The shades I got are:
- MAT 1 “Vivid Rose” – A bold reddish orange.
- MAT 10 “Flaming Fuchsia” – A bright pink with a purple tinge.

COLOUR OPTIONS: The shades available are mostly bright/bold; 7 shades are available.
PACKAGING: The packaging is almost the same as their Lip Polishes; a rectangular plastic tube, the liquid inside resembling a lipstick bullet and a leaf shaped applicator. The only difference is the shade of the cap. While the Lip Polishes have metallic silver caps, the Velvet Mattes have a matte black cap.

Pros
- They are comfortable on the lips.
- A lot of bold and bright colour options are available.
- The texture is buttery and the finish is satin/velvety.
Cons
- They don't last for a long time.
