I feel like I’m a little too excited to bring you this post today. For several reasons.
THE BACKSTORY: First off, how cute was the entire Tony Moly X Pokémon collection? I do think they are done with the collaboration and I sincerely hope – for the sake of our wallets – there won’t be any more products. I got a few more things from the collection and I will be talking about them very soon.
Secondly… The Pokémon Sun and Moon game is launching today! And and and… The anime series premiered in Japan yesterday!!
Last season was more mature and well-rounded (it included Ash Ketchum’s first kiss too), so I’m looking forward to what awaits us in Sun and Moon. I did notice a huge change in animation style from the trailer but I’m not really complaining, guys. I’m just going to sit back, relax and watch the first two episodes come nightfall.
I’m just so excited! So, in honour of Generation VII of the wonderful world of Pocket Monsters, I bring you today’s review!
WHAT IS A CUSHION? : If you’re unfamiliar with the whole concept of cushions and how they work, let me explain it to you. Cushions come with the product, be it your BB Cream or blush, soaked in a sponge-like thing. For base products or blushes, you get a state-of-the-art air puff for application, making it a sponge-on-sponge application. What you essentially do is pat the air puff on your face. You must not drag it. They are meant to be travel friendly (most include a mirror) and extremely handy for touch-ups.
THE PRODUCT: By now, I’m sure you are all aware of how cushion products work and that explanation was unnecessary.
This particular cushion blush is extremely pigmented with high colour payoff. Using the tiniest amount can give you a very fresh-looking flush of colour. However, it is very easy for things to go awry with this blush. If you do like a very strong amount of colour on your cheeks, the colour can be built up to your satisfaction.
In terms of consistency, it is quite wet and liquidy. It is very lightweight and lasts the same amount of time as your average cushion blusher – for a maximum of 3 hours or so. Setting it with a powder blush of a similar hue or a translucent powder will, however, lengthen the duration.
These cushion blushes are repackaged versions of Tony Moly’s Spoiler Mini Cushion Blusher. So, if you’re willing to skip out on the limited edition Pikachu cases, you can always try out the regular version instead.
SHADES AVAILABLE: There are 3 shades available in this line of blushes. The same shades are also available with the regularly packaged blushes.
- Pink Fantasy
- Rose Coral – The one I bought. It’s a very nice warm coral shade.
- Peach Orange
SWATCHES: See how opaque it appears? Once you blend it out, it appears more natural, toned-down and wearable.
PRICE AND QUANTITY: $12 – $20 for 9 grams of product.
AVAILABILITY: ibuybeauti, testerkorea, jolse (sold out), cosmetic-love (Pikachu versions)
ibuybeauti, testerkorea, roseroseshop, cosmetic-love (Regular versions)
♥ OVERALL: If you already own a lot of cushion blushes, it’s unnecessary to get this. But if you want it for the adorable Pikachu packaging, go for it. The formula is not too different from the A’Pieu cushion blushers, which are a lot cheaper. Anyway, I’m off to get some snacks for my midnight viewing of Pokémon Sun and Moon!
