Annyeong, everyone. I have a question for you. How, exactly, do you feel about red lips? Are you still on the hunt for the perfect red lipstick, based on your skin tone or have you found ‘the one’? Everyone’s got colours they’re most comfortable with and not surprisingly, red is one of the colours that always manages to be on every girl’s list. It’s elegant, fierce and stunning. If you’re still on the hunt for the perfect red, don’t give up. The moment you find ‘the one’, sit back and watch how it changes your life.

THE BACKSTORY: I was on Beautybay to purchase some other items and I decided to buy this because I wanted a free foundation sample. I guess this was more of an impulse buy than a calculated purchase. I was just drawn to the idea of ruby red lips, I suppose. Plus, I had always wanted to try out something by Too Faced.

THE PRODUCT: This Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in ‘Melted Ruby’ is one of my favourite reds in my collection. These liquid lipsticks were a part of the Pardou My French Collection for Summer 2014 by Too Faced. There were 6 shades in the range initially, but it has gone through an upgrade of sorts and now has 10 shades available. You can check out the colours here. ‘Melted Ruby’ is a classic, true blood red.

The formula is extremely smooth and creamy and it glides on to the lips. It is intensely pigmented and a little goes a long way. Then again, ‘Melted Ruby’ may be just be a little bit more pigmented simply because it is red. But from what I have heard and read, the other colours are as pigmented. Being red, ‘Melted Ruby’ is also very long wearing and can easily outlast the lighter colours. This easily stays put for 4-5 hours without a glitch and only fades a little after eating or drinking. It dries off fairly quickly so you may just have to apply it a little faster if you’re very glacial and precise when applying a lip product.

The fun part about this product is definitely the applicator. It’s a squeeze-tube slanted doe-foot applicator, which makes the product quite easy to apply. However, if you’re like me and find it difficult to work with squeeze tubes, you may take a little time to learn just how to manoeuvre the tip. If you’re a fan of a gradient lip, this is the ideal applicator. Even a fully painted lip is easy to achieve, you just have to be extra careful around the edges.

PRICE: These were 1300 INR for 12 ml ($21 approximately) when I bought them and their price usually depends on the currency rates of your county.

AVAILABILITY: Sephora (www.sephora.com), Beautybay (beautybay.com). I got mine from beautybay.com

DUPE: Formula wise, it’s quite similar to the Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers. The shade ‘Big Bang’ from the Apocalips range is a close dupe, even if it a warmer red. It’s also very, very similar to the Etude House Rosy Tint Lips, right from packaging to the applicator. Funny thing is, the Etude House Rosy Tint Lips launched first.

Pros

  • It's really, really pigmented. A little bit goes a long way.
  • Colour range is quite extensive.
  • It lasts for a long time. Even if the initial vibrancy wears off, the pigment clings on.
  • It has no such fragrance, which is a great plus for people with sensitive noses.

Cons

  • The applicator may require some practice. If you're fine with these kinds of applicators, there are no issues.
