Decided to pay homage to NCT 127 via the title of this post, haha. But honestly, here’s my thoughts on these two fairly popular liquid blushes.
Every time winter rolls around, I take out my liquid blushes. I tend to use them more when the weather gets cold because that invariably means my skin gets drier.
This winter, I have these two blushes that I’m playing with.
NARS Afterglow Liquid Blush in ‘Dolce Vita’
I bought this blush from Sephora Singapore, on a whim. I found out much later that this formulation was going viral on TikTok and other social media platforms.
I like the packaging. The peach bottle and the gold cap is a departure from NARS’s usual black-and-white aesthetic but I quite like this colour-scheme too. The doe-foot applicator is huge and it reminds me of the applicator that Fenty’s gloss bombs has. The doe-foot also has a well so it picks up quite a bit of product in one go. One dip is usually more than enough for the entire face.
The formulation of this is rather lovely and it’s understandably the reason for its popularity. It’s the perfect formula if one wishes to have a discreet amount of makeup to brighten up one’s face.
It’s very creamy and smooth and blends out effortlessly. It is quite pigmented but can be blended out to be softer or built on to be more opaque and apparent. A dot on each cheek is more than enough.
I personally think fingers work best with this formula and help it look seamless and natural. It has a luminous finish, which the fingers also help retain.
Its longevity is alright – of course, setting it with a powder makes sure it lasts longer.
While I love the formula of this, I really do wish I had bought a different shade.
‘Dolce Vita’ is a dusty-rose shade that is best suited for darker complexions.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Dewy Liquid Blush in ‘Hope’
These have been hot for a long time now. Their popularity was eating away at me but I could not bring myself to commit to their regular-sized bottles. When I discovered that they had come out with a mini-size for the Holidays, I decided to finally bite the bullet.
The glass bottle and gold dome-shaped cap are iconic at this point. The applicator, again, is a doe-foot one. This one, because of its mini size, is considerably smaller.
This product is available in two finishes – matte and dewy. This one is in the dewy finish.
I quite like the formula. It’s silicone-smooth and blends out like a dream. While fingers work well with this formula, I much prefer a wet sponge to blend it out.
The pigmentation is commendable in this formula and so is the opacity. A little definitely goes a long, long way.
It’s also very long-wearing and doesn’t require you to set it with a powder for it to last on your face.
‘Hope’ is a nude-mauve shade but it pulls more peachy on me.
