I barely buy or use any lip-colours that aren’t lip balms anymore but this product caught my eye.
THE BACKSTORY: The backstory for this is that ever since the pandemic hit, I’ve rarely put on any lip-colour. Not even for my own entertainment, at the comfort of my own home. Because of that, whenever I try to wear a lip-product that’s not a sheer lip balm, I look at myself in the mirror and I wince. I no longer recognise the figure in the mirror, it’s that bad. However, I still bought this product from L’Oreal. I just want to ease myself back into lip products, mostly because I have tons and tons of them to use up.
THE PRODUCT: This Liquid Lipstick, I believe, is the latest offering from L’Oreal Paris. I bought it because the word “Chiffon” intrigued me. I also believe that this line is an Asia exclusive one.
I had guessed this product would be more similar to a third-generation Korean lip tint than a proper Liquid Lipstick. And my guess was right on the money.
This product reminds me of a mousse-y lip tint that a frivolous teenage me would have bought from Korea back in 2015.
I really like the packaging of the product. I like the millennial pink component and I also like how the bottom of it is see-through. That way, you can differentiate among colours if you have multiples. The applicator is a pointed, flat, tear-drop shape and I always enjoy wands like those.
The consistency of this product is mousse-like and the texture is velvety smooth. It goes on the lip evenly and doesn’t tug on the lip-lines. It doesn’t particularly adhere well on the lips so it doesn’t last that long (it tends to simply sit atop the lips as opposed to drying or settling down). You’re going to have to touch up time and time again, especially after meals.
That being said, the consistency of the product makes it comfortable on the lips and it’s something that’s borderline weightless and airy once you spread it on your lips.
The product is pigmented and as far as opacity goes, it is on the higher side of the spectrum. You get a soft, blurry finish with one layer but two layers will give you a fully pigmented lip look.
This product seriously takes me back to college, when the Peripera Airy Velvet tints and 3CE Velvet Tints were all the rage. The Western market, as usual, is quite late to the trend. The Asian Beauty market was (and is) always ages ahead.
