So these incredible eyeliners are finally available locally.
With masks becoming a norm in our daily lives, the cosmetic industry isn’t exactly thriving. Lipsticks, for the most part, have become an afterthought. If anything, I understand there’ll be a wave of appreciation for eye makeup products in the future.
This eyeliner formula from Etude house is absolutely wonderful. And that’s saying a lot because a lot of Korean (and Japanese) eyeliners are already exponentially better than their Western (and local) counterparts.
These are extremely pigmented and fully opaque. They are creamy, glide on and don’t tug on the lids. Even if you have crepe-y eyelids, you should be able to use them without any glitches.
I will say this, they dry down and set extremely fast so if you wish to smoke or blend the eyeliner out, you’d need to work quickly. Once they set, they won’t smudge. These are sweat-proof and seriously long-wearing. So, if you come back home after a long day of work and look in the mirror to find your eyeliner intact, don’t be too surprised. That being said, because some shades contain noticeable chunks of glitter pearls, you might find that those pearls transfer onto the crease of your eyelids. The base colour of the eyeliner, though, will remain budge-proof.
While they are tenacious little eyeliner pencils, you needn’t worry about taking them off. A simple bi-phase cleansing water or an oil cleanser would do the job effortlessly.
The fact that they are retractable is simply a cherry on top of a deliciously creamy cake. Creamy pun intended. You don’t have to use a sharpener and waste product in the process. You can just twist them up and use them as you please.
For storage, I’d recommend making sure the cap of the liner is shut tight. That way, you wouldn’t risk drying the product out anytime soon.
Another important feature about the Play 101 Pencils is their versatility. When they first came out, they were marketed to be used on different parts of the face. The sad part is, locally, such colours (like those belonging in the red, pink or flesh coloured families) are still unavailable. Those colors could be used as blushes, lip liners, concealers and so on. They go on smoothly regardless of where you place them. You could even use the reds and pinks as eyeliners.
The colors that are currently available in our country are your typical eyeliner colours. Unless, of course, you’d want Khaki coloured lips. You’re free to do as you please.
Originally, they’re also available in a few more finishes than what’s available for purchase locally. There’s a lovely Creamy finish, a Matte finish, a Glitter finish, a Glossy finish and a Shimmering finish. The ones I’m showing you in this post all fall under the Glitter finish.
These have been reformulated quite a few times. Etude House is notorious as a brand that quickly phases things out. Perhaps because of how good the formula is on these, they have stood the test of time and actually continue to exist.
∴ I truly find that these eyeliners are among the best I’ve ever tried. If you can, wait for a sale before you nab a few. You can get more colours and get more out of your hard-earned money that way.
