This… I wanted to dislike this so much. But, spoiler, I love it.
THE BACKSTORY: I’ve been a Clarins Lip Oil girly ever since my friend Cathy bullied me into trying them out. But then came along Dior’s offering in the market. Since I’ve been a total and absolute sucker for the Dior Lip Glows, I decided to ram past the astonishing price-point blindly and added their Lip Oil to my collection.
THE PRODUCT: The packaging, as you can see, is very Dior-esque. With the little knob on top of the lid, the square component… A large part of what makes me love this Lip Oil is the huge, plush applicator. This is the kind of applicator that just immediately lets you know that it means business.
The minty scent that wafts the moment you whip out the wand, again, is just so Dior. For someone who harps on and on about not liking strong fragrances, I always welcome a nice minty scent.
Right.
To get the obvious out of the way, I love how nourishing this formula is. It gives me that immediate comfort that I look for in my Lip Oils. It’s lush and thick but not sticky. It’s not slippery and my constant lip-smushing antics don’t reduce it to nothing.
I also love the instant glossy finish it leaves. While it layers well over other lip products, I almost always tend to use it on its own.
It’s not particularly long-wearing and it’ll come off whenever you eat/drink. But the hydration remains. Re-application is easy but because of how big the wand is, you do need to take a moment to put it on properly, especially if you’re forgoing the mirror.
I truly like how this feels on the lips. I like that it has some body and isn’t like other gloss-oil hybrids. I also quite enjoy the tingly sensation the minty scent leaves on the lips.
SWATCHES AND SHADES AVAILABLE: The official site says 14 shades are available at the moment.
‘012 Rosewood’ – The shade name doesn’t match the actual colour. It isn’t a true rosewood but is instead a translucent peachy-nude rosewood .

♥ OVERALL: If you can justify the price-tag in the slightest, it’s a nice splurge. But in this economy, prioritise other things and just buy its dupe (Battle post coming soon!).
