Make way for my new favourite blush.
THE BACKSTORY: By now, I’ve made it evidently clear that I absolutely love Flower Knows. They can do no wrong in my eyes. This collection, inspired by the traditional Yunjian (cloud collar), launched towards the beginning of winter last year. I wanted a lot of things from it but limited myself to getting a powder blush.

THE PRODUCT: As one has come to expect, the packaging is elite. Top tier. This particular powder blush and highlighter duo is inspired by ancient Chinese rouge boxes. The gold details, the hefty compact, the mirror – they all scream luxury.
So, the split pan houses two different products. One is meant to be a blush, while the other is to be used as a highlighter. They have roughly the same formula.
They both have a matte finish but aren’t chalky. They’re quite smooth and silky instead. There’s not a ton of product kick-up in the pan either. I tend to use a really soft-bristled blush brush with these.
These are pigmented and their opacity, while sheer, can be built up. You can play around with their intensity and build up the shade you like more while using the other to diffuse it.
Longevity is decent with these. They’d last you through a chill party but they’d require touch-ups if you plan on wearing them throughout the day. Especially in warmer weather. These also work well with setting sprays and tend to last much, much longer with a spritz of those.
This is the kind of product that allows you to achieve the “watercolour” blush look with ease. What’s the watercolour blush look, you ask? Think diffused wash of colour with seamless edges. It just looks fresh every single time.

With Flower Knows, my critique is often the same – I wish they made shades for a larger variety of skin-tones. Their face products in their collections tend to have a white base so it limits them to people with lighter, paler complexions. There’s usually a couple of shades that medium complexions get away with but that’s just not the way to be, in this day and age.

♥ OVERALL: I think a majority of Flower Knows products is worth having in your collection. Especially if you like the kind of lighter shades they produce. I dream of a day when the brand will cater to a much larger variety of complexions. Until then, if possible, check out their lip products.
