I am finally back to posting reviews on the blog.
THE BACKSTORY: When Rare Beauty first launched, I saw everyone hyping up their liquid blushes to the moon and back. With each launch, they included something that’d excite everyone. I bought a couple of products from them before they made their way into my country. I asked my cousin who lives in the States to help me get their products. Among the things I bought, I got a free sample which I wound up loving more than the products I had ordered. During Black Friday last year, I saw the brand was selling the product I fell in love with alongside a lipliner. Of course I gave them my money.
THE PRODUCT: So this Lip Duo contains the brand’s Stay Vulnerable Glossy Lip Balm in ‘Nearly Neutral’ along with their Kind Words Matte Lip Liner in ‘Patient’ in a mini size.
I really appreciate it when brands do mini sizes of their products. That way, you get to test the formula without having to spend the big bucks on an item you’d potentially not like. For special occasions and seasons, brands tend to come out with these sets and I often tend to keep my eyes open for such deals. You ought to, as well.
Stay Vulnerable Glossy Lip Balm in ‘Nearly Neutral’:
This is the product I received as a sample and fell in love with at first swipe.
I like the packaging. It comes housed in a heavy plastic unit with a flat side so that it lays on the table without rolling off. The tear-drop shaped applicator is perfect to swipe onto the contours of your lips.
I love this formula. It’s like a glossy liquid lip balm. I love how plush and balmy it feels. It’s not sticky in the slightest. It’s comfortable and leaves the lips feeling moisturized.
It’s not fully opaque but it can be built up in layers for a more pronounced display of its pigments.
It’s not particularly long-wearing but touching up is fairly easy because of how forgiving the formula is.
The balmy consistency smooths over lip-lines and any chapped parts you might have on your lips.
Kind Words Matte Lip Liner in ‘Patient’:
This is a mini size of the brand’s lip liner that comes with the Glossy Lip Balm. What’s more, this is a shade that’s been made exclusive for this duo.
I like how creamy this lip liner is. It’d not bone-dry and doesn’t tug or skip when you try to use it.
For how creamy it is, it sets to a budge-proof matte finish. It’s long-wearing on its own but gets more malleable with more balmy, glossy products layered on top.
I also love that it’s retractable.
